I asked Mom to buy apples for a recipe that I wanted to do. Time passed...But when I eventually wanted to do it, she said there weren't enough anymore. Siiigh... So I'm like "Well, carrots and apples are good with basically the same stuff."
I peeled some carrots and chopped them up to big apple slice size and just put them in instead. In case you haven't noticed, I'm not really into following the rules when I don't want to. Following the rules would mean no apple crisp! The show must go on!
When it came out, the carrots weren't as soft as I would have wanted. The cinnamon and everything tasted good with them. But it was really dry. Carrots aren't as wet as apples. If I did it again, I'd shave up the carrots and I'd add more butter. I thought about shaving them up before I made it, but I thought it would make the carrots too soft. I was wrong. Dad suggested the butter. So anyway, if you're substituting carrots for apples, shave 'em up and add more liquid.
Also, I think it called for a pie crust or something, or I just wanted one, I don't remember. So I smashed up some graham crackers and put it with melted butter. I should have smashed the graham crackers up to more of a fine dust than a small chunk.
Lol creative!
