It was my turn to cook dinner tonight. Dad and my sister, Rachel, were out and about getting sesame oil. So I had some time on my hands. I was looking for a fruit to prepare. I saw the mandarin oranges and thought I might be able to make it into an orangesauce (instead of applesauce). It was in light syrup. I drained it. I blended it. It was just like a juice. So then I was like well I'll add that can of pineapple and it'll be orange-pineapple juice. I drained the pineapple first too. At that point, it was thicker. So I added cornstarch.
I thought it was a good idea...My chef sister disagrees.
So anyway it turned out! It was thick enough! However...A lot of what it got it's thickness from was the pineapple. The blended up pineapple. So I tasted it. It was like hair.
I took it out of the blender and put it through a...what's it called? Like a sifter thing...Like a colander that has really small openings. So I got all the pineapple hair out. It was basically just juice then. I added the juice the pineapple was in.
It ended up being orange and pineapple and cornstarch juice. Pretty weird. I didn't finish my glass. And apparently drinking cornstarch isn't the best thing you could do.
The moral of the story is that pineapplesauce is not good eats.
